While we prefer not to get involved in the day-to-day operations of our companies, we have the experience, the ability and the willingness to do so when necessary. We take an active role on the board of directors of our portfolio companies, and we particularly focus on financial matters and long-term strategy. We help secure additional financing for working capital, expansion and acquisition needs. In partnership with our operating management, we also help develop long-term financial, marketing and operating plans.

Holdings, LP Colonial
is a leading provider of outpatient rehabilitation services to those
suffering from addiction to opiates (e.g. heroin) and opiate-based prescription
medications such as Oxycontin, Dilaudid, Percodan, Percocet and Propoxyphene.
Founded in 1986 with one clinic in Orlando FL, Colonial now treats more
than 10,000 patients per day from its forty plus clinics located throughout
the United States. Treatment protocols combine methadone maintenance
therapy, to relieve the craving for heroin and opiate-based prescription
drugs, with individual and group counseling to meet patients' social
needs. Premier
Kids Care, Inc. Premier
Kids Care is a provider of specialized pharmacy services. The Company
provides overnight, temperature-controlled delivery of self-administered
biopharmaceuticals and supplies necessary for patients to self-administer
their drug dosages safely and effectively in the privacy of their homes.
The Company's nurses, pharmacists and customer service staff talk frequently
with patients over the telephone, help them comply with prescribed treatment
schedules and educate them about ways to manage their complex diseases
more effectively. The Company's reimbursement specialists manage the
complicated paperwork that is required to collect payment for the patient's
medication from both private insurance companies and government payors. National
Renal Alliance, LLC National
Renal Alliance provides dialysis services to patients with chronic kidney
failure, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The Company provides
these services through its own outpatient dialysis clinics, in the patient's
home, and in hospitals, on an inpatient basis, to those suffering from
acute renal failure. e-Government
Solutions, Inc. Aquilent
provides web development and IT services in the federal market specializing
in complex web portals, scientific applications, and e-procurement solutions.
The Company created the first successful e-marketplace in the Federal
sector (i.e. NAVSEA SeaPort). They have also worked with customers like
the United States Postal Service, The Department of Health and Human
Services and the National Library of Medicine to build groundbreaking
portals such as USPS.com, HHS.com and NLM's ClinicalTrials.gov. The
Douglas-Michaels Corp. Douglas-Michaels
is the pioneer and leading provider of specialized marketing services
to the mortgage industry. Since its founding in 1982, the Company has
designed and implemented loan repayment programs for more than 20 of
the nation's largest financial institutions and sold its products to
over half a million mortgage customers throughout the United States.
Its primary product, BiSaver®, converts the payment flow of a traditional
monthly mortgage into a biweekly mortgage. BiSaver® can save a homeowner
thousands of dollars in interest expense and provides mortgage banks
fee income. The programs are run under the names of the company's various
mortgage banking clients. Laurel
Technical Service, LLC Laurel Tech provides "turnkey" pre-press editorial and production services to textbook publishers. It serves primary, secondary and college textbook markets across a variety of publishing media including: print, CD-ROM and the Internet. Its services include editorial content, graphic artwork, accuracy checking and typesetting of textbooks, solution manuals, supplemental materials, and teaching materials. The Company is unique in that it provides complete editorial and production work in-house to the publisher. |
